BLACK EXPRESSIONS

Drawing upon Historically Black Colleges and Universities records and archives overlooked by many historians, The Star Burns Bright documents the everlasting success of many great African American artistic individuals, who made their mark from students of Dillard University to world-class actors, painters, writers, and musicians. Since its opening in 1935, Dillard University has pioneered many major innovations for African Americans. Amidst the trying times of being a newly formed university, Dillard created and nurtured a spirit of excellence.  This spirit of excellence is what gave birth to the great nature of The Dillard University Players Guild and Drama Department and many of the roaring artistic souls that have stepped from within Dillard University. This digital website exhibit will showcase the black expressions from within.
